7 Dec 2014, 11:58: Email from College Chaplain
I’ve heard the sad news concerning your father’s recent death. Please allow me to extend to you my condolences. You and your parents have been in my prayers these past few days. Please know that you can always find a sympathetic face in the Chaplaincy department.
With my prayers and support
My reply:
Thank you – its kind of you to take the trouble to email me and I really appreciate your thoughts and prayers. I’m staying in Staffordshire at the moment though. Mum is in the Macmillan hospice and is going to die soon we think. That’s very hard to say. She wants a joint funeral, and so its a very strange situation indeed. I also think a joint funeral would be fitting, yet of course am finding it hard to accept all this.
So, please would you continue to pray for my Mum, if you do get the opportunity. She is suffering now and is keen to be reunited with Dad soon.
